Biography     

     Dana Brezina, a Czech born artist, attained her formation in arts under professor Francisco Merayo Maestre at the Academy of Classical Arts in Madrid.

     Adept in classical drawing and a painter in oils, Dana studied the concept of construction of form through the drawing of Greco-Roman sculptures and the study of the paintings by the great masters. She completed several copies of the Italian and Spanish Schools at the Prado Museum in Madrid and at the National Gallery of Canada.

      She wrote thesis: "Tabularium Romanum" (1997 - in Spanish), "Sculpture in the Epoch of Augustus" (1999 - in Spanish), and "Hellenistic Art" (2002 - in Spanish).

     Dana's forte is the art of portraiture. Her paintings and drawings can be found in private collections in Canada, Spain, and Czech Republic.

     For over eight years she has taught anatomy, portraiture, and composition at the Ottawa School of Art.

     Presently Dana owns York Studio in Ottawa, a private art school with focus on knowledge based foundation in drawing and painting and a master-student concept of teaching.

     Dana also teaches "Anatomy of Portrait" at the Ottawa School of Arts.
