The course “Anatomy of Portrait” was developed in 1998 and has since been adopted by some art schools in North America.

This course is offered at the Ottawa School of Art.

Description:

This is a specialized course for serious students who are interested in the art of portraiture. The focus of the course is on the study of the skull, muscles of the head, the profound study of features, and the understanding of facial expressions. The drawings will be done from reproductions of masters’ works, and a live model.
